The chemical lypcopene is a naturally occurring coloring compound and part of the carotenid family. It is the reason for the deep red colour of quite a few types of food.

Fortunately, unlike many other vitamins, lycopene not only survives being cooked, but is essentially increased in efficacy by being cooked.

. Lycoprene's key nutritional contribution is that it acts as an antioxidant and is believed to be an asset in the battle to reduce the chances of developing cancer.

Approved foods include, lean cuts of beef, turkey breast, prawns, fat-free cheeses, peanut butter, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, like black beans, celery and mushrooms.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
