Diet types

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the famous atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it supposedly allows weight loss but still allows you to eat many of the foods you love, like lamb and hard cheeses.
With the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, nutrition and weight loss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The theory of the famous atkins diet is that even if our bodies use both fats and carbs to burn into carbohydrates, it is the carbs that are burned primarily. If we reduce your consumption of carbohydrates, our bodies will utilise our fat and we will reduce weight. Although tempting, the atkins diet is divisive, not all doctors concur and some hold that it is often bad for your health.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan started by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which encourages the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston developed the south beach diet for his cardiac patients, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific research completed on other weight loss regimes.
Good foods include, canadian bacon, turkey breast, oysters, cottage cheese, almonds, eggs and some vegatables, like green beans, eggplant and turnips.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
