Ingredients

6 tbsp margarine
4 oz unsweetened chocolate
1/3 cup skim milk
1/3 cup apricot preserves with
NutraSweet brand sweetener
= (or apricot spreadable fruit)
2 tsp instant espresso coffee crystals
10 3/4 tsp Equal for Recipes
= (or 36 packets Equal sweetener
or 1 1/2 cups Equal Spoonful)
3 egg whites
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp salt

Directions

Heat margarine, chocolate, milk, apricot preserves, and espresso crystals
in small saucepan, whisking frequently, until chocolate is almost melted.
Remove pan from heat; continue whisking until chocolate is melted and
mixture is smooth. Whisk in egg yolk and vanilla; add Equal, whisking
until smooth.

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar to stiff peaks in large bowl. Fold
chocolate mixture into egg whites; fold in combined flour and salt.

Lightly grease bottom of 9-inch round cake pan and line with parchment or
baking paper. Pour cake batter into pan. Bake in preheated 350 degree
oven until cake is just firm when lightly touched, 18 to 20 minutes, and
toothpick comes out clean. Do not overbake. Carefully loosen side of cake
from pan with small sharp knife, which will keep cake from cracking as it
cools. Cool cake completely in pan on wire rack; refrigerate until
chilled, 1 to 2 hours.

Remove cake from pan and place on serving plate.

Weight loss diets

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the popular atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it allows weight reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, such as meat and egg and cheese.
With the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a high protein, low carb, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) nutrition system is based on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing types of food and a score illustrating the ease with which the energy of the food type gets changed to sugar in your body. The believe is that slow acting types of food (ie those food types with a low Gi score), keep you feeling full longer and help to eat less food without being miserabl;e.
It is also extremeley useful for diabetics, as the low GI types of food are beneficial in preventing increases in blood sugar amount.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet created by Dr. arthur agatston which stresses the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston invented his weight loss system for his cardiac patients, as a result of his analysis of scientific data on other diets.
Approved foods include, broiled ham, turkey breast, oysters, feta cheese, pistachios, nonfat yoghurt and certain vegetables, like asparagus, cabbage and spinach.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
