Ingredients
12 oz rump steak
2 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp dry sherry
1 piece fresh ginger, peeled, grated
1 garlic clove, crushed
2 pinch five-spice powder
= (or Mrs. Dash)
1 tsp chili sauce
1 tbsp oil
6 green onions, sliced diagonally
1 small red pepper, seeded, diced
8 crisp lettuce cups, to serve
Parsley sprigs, to garnish
Directions
Cut steak into thin slivers and put in a bowl. Add soy sauce, sherry,
ginger, garlic, five-spice powder and chili sauce. Mix well, then cover
and marinate in refrigerator for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
Heat oil in a large frying pan or wok. Add onion and red pepper and
stir-fry for 1 minute. Add beef mixture to pan and stir-fry for 2 to 3
minutes, stirring all the time. Turn mixture into a warm serving dish.
Serve at once with chilled lettuce cups, garnished with sprig of parsley.
To serve, simply spoon beef mixture into lettuce cups and eat with the
fingers. Serve with plenty of napkins or finger bowls -- it can be a
little messy.
This recipe yields 8 servings; 4 carb grams per serving (without additional
starch).
Comments: If your stage of diet can handle an extra 2 to 3 carbs per
serving, take the following extra step to make mixture richer and thicker:
Blend 1 teaspoon corn or potato starch smoothly with 1 teaspoon water and
add to pan. Cook an extra minute stirring constantly to thicken.

Weight loss systemsThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should consume "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston invented the south beach diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific data on other nutritional studies. Examples of good foods include, lean cuts of beef, turkey bacon, prawns, fat-free cheeses, pistachios, eggs and some vegatables, such as lentils, broccoli and turnips. The Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet is still widely used today. Although highly controversial, it supposedly allows weight reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many of the foods you love, for example fatty meat and butter. With this diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The 'science' behind the famous atkins diet is that if we reduce your consumption of carbohydrates, we will utilise our stored fat and we will reduce weight |
