The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system started by Cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed his dietary regime for people who have cardiac problems, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific data on other nutritional studies. Examples of good foods include, lean beef, skinless poultry, prawns, parmesan cheese, peanuts, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like artichokes, cucumbers and turnips. The low-cal diet In a nutshell, low calorie diet is based on the fact that if you want to become thinner, it is essential to consume less calories than you use. What is a calorie? A calorie is a measurement of the energy provided by food. The 'calorie' is the the energy required to increase the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at normal atmospheric pressure. If a meal has more calories, then it will will give you more energy when eaten. Examples of low calorie foods include celery, bell pepper, guava, ground turkey, and low-fat cheese. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes eschalot, white onions and spring onions) The alliaceae range of vegetables is high in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is very little hard medical proof present, allyl sulfides are also thought by nutritionalists to help with colds, arteriosclerosis and insomnia. Foods containing allyl sulfides are low in calories, so make sure you add them to your diet. |
