The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index diet system is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing types of food and a score illustrating the rapidity that the glucose of the food gets transformed to glucose in your body. The theory is that long-acting types of food (ie those with a low Gi number), will keep you feeling full for longer and mean that you can consume fewer food without craving snacks all the time.
It's also extremely efficient for diabetics, as the low GI types of food are helpful in minimizing rises in blood glucose secretion.

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the popular atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it supposedly allows fat reduction whilst allowing many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, like fatty meat and egg and cheese.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a high protein, low carb, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The theory of the popular atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to transform into carbs, it is the carbohydrates which are burned primarily. If we take in fewer carbohydrates, we will use up our stored fat and we will achieve weight loss. Although inviting, this theory is divisive, not all nutritionalists are in agreement and some feel it can sometimes be unsafe.

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes pickled shallots, chives and spring onions)

The onion family of foods is high in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is precious little definitive proof obtainable, allyl sulfides are also thought by many researchers to reduce symptoms with antiinflammatory effect, arteriosclerosis and fatigue.

Foods containing allyl sulfides also help you lose weight, so make sure you add them to your diet.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
