Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes garlic, leeks and welsh onion)

The onion, leek and garlic range of vegetables is high in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Even though there is not enough, hard medical proof obtainable, allyl sulphides are also thought by many researchers to reduce the symptoms of colds, arteriosclerosis and insomnia.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so should be a part of every diet system.

Cruciferous vegetables, Superfoods that also help your Your diet
(eg. Cauliflower, Fresh green beans, Turnip greens and Napa)
Known as cruciferous vegetables, these have large amounts of vitamins (folate and vitamin c), minerals (selenium and potassium, amongst others), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents and isothiocyanates.

In addition to their many beneficial effects, some of these nutrients are thought by many to reduce the risk of cancer.

A low calorie weight loss regime

In simple terms, the low-cal diet depends on the fact that if you want to diet successfully, the important thing to consume fewer calories than you actually use.

What is a calorie?
The calorie is the unit used for measuring the amount of energy in food. A 'calorie' is the the energy required to increase the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at normal atmospheric pressure. If a food type has more calories, then it will provide your body with more energy to use when eaten.

Low calorie food types include celery, cucumbers, watermelon, lower fat hot-dogs, and eggs.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
