Ingredients
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup apple juice
2 tbsp honey
1/4 cup raisins
1 dash cinnamon
1 dash nutmeg
2 or 3 oranges
Directions
Mix ingedients except oranges in a saucepan. Simmer over low heat until
honey is melted about 3 minutes. Set aside. Peel oranges, and slice them
into quarters. Place oranges slices in a small baking dish, and pour sauce
over them. Broil for 6 to 8 minutes. Watch closely. You don't want slices
to burn, but the sauce should thicken slightly. Serve warm. I don't keep
honey in the house....have no idea what this is like with honey in it. I
made it anyhow and used a sugar substitute. My big kid really liked it with
a little whipping cream. (light)

Diet informationThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet system started by Dr. arthur agatston which encourages the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented this diet for people who have heart disease, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific research completed on other dietary studies. Approved foods include, lean cuts of beef, turkey breast, seafood, fat-free cheeses, pecan halves, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like artichokes, eggplant and spinach. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system primarily invented by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not exactly a weight loss diet, however many people discover that they manage to lose a few pounds by following the zone diet. The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a result puts your body in a state of balance that is far more healthful than usual, known as the 'zone'. Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, because of this, doesn't build up fat. The most important technique of the system is to maintain the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi index nutrition and weight loss system is based around the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of foods and an indicator of the ease with which the energy in the food type gets converted to glucose in the dieters body. The claim is that slow release types of food (ie those foods with a low Glycaemic index score), will keep you feeling full for longer and help you to reduce your intake of food without feeling hungry. It's also extremely efficient for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI types of food are helpful in managing rises in glucose secretion. |
