The low calorie diet
Rather obviously, low calorie diet states that if you plan to get rid of some fat, then you have to eat less calories than your body requires. What is a calorie? A calorie is a measurement of the energy provided by food. A food calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If a food type has more calories, then it will turn into more energy to use when it is converted. Low calorie food types include fresh green beans, carrots, guava, low fat ham, and bamboo shoots. The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index diet is based on the gi index, a chart showing food types and an indicator of the ease that the glucose of the food type gets changed to sugar in your bloodstream. The believe is that slow acting foods (ie those food types with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite for longer and help you to injest less food without feeling you are missing out. It's also extremely good for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI types of food are beneficial in controlling rises in blood sugar amount. Flavonoid rich foods (inlcudes citrus fruits, kohlrabi, garden pea & thyme) The compounds known as flavonoids which exist in these foods are believed to be good in fighting cancer. Experts investigating the effects of flavonoids believe that they could have many benefits to our health, including anti-asthma and antitumor properties. Most also have a low calorie count, so should be included in your weight loss program. |
