Ingredients
1 each egg
1 cup milk
1 artificial sweetener to equal 1 tbs, p. sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 nutmeg
1/4 tsp salt

Break egg into small mixing bowl and beat slightly. Add remaining
ingredients and beat well. Pour into damp (run under water, remove excess,
leaving slight film) custard cups and sprinkle well with nutmeg. Bake in
350 oven in a shallow pan of water for 40-50 minutes. A silver knife
inserted in the center will come out clean when custard is done.
Makes 3 servings. 1 Serving - 80 calories and is 1/2 whole milk
exchange.
Personal note from Ursula Taylor - to cut back on fat - use egg
substitute and low fat or skim milk.....I also see no reason why you can't
change the vanilla extract to other extracts to change the flavor of the
custard.....

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan invented by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed this diet for people who have heart disease, based on his detailed study of scientific data completed on other weight loss systems. Examples of good foods include, lean cuts of beef, skinless poultry, oysters, parmesan cheese, pecan halves, lowfat milk and some vegatables, such as green beans, broccoli and water chestnuts. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes eschalot, chives and green onion) The alliaceae family of foods is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is insufficient hard medical proof obtainable, allyl sulfides are also thought by many experts to reduce problems with colds, sterilization and physical exhaustion. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so should be included in every weight loss regime. |
