Weight loss systems

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index diet is based on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of types of food and an indicator of the ease with which the glucose and energy in the food gets changed to glucose in the dieters body. The theory is that long-acting types of food (ie with a low Glycaemic index score), keep you feeling full longer and help you to eat less food without craving snacks all the time.
It's also extremely good for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in managing increases in blood glucose secretion.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet started by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which stresses that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston developed his weight loss system for people who have cardiac problems, based on his detailed study of scientific data completed on other weight loss regimes.
Examples of good foods include, canadian bacon, skinless poultry, clams, fat-free cheeses, pecan halves, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, such as lentils, cabbage and water chestnuts.

The Atkins’ Diet
Although it originated back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it claims to allow weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example meat and some dairy produce.
With the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is often referred to as a low carb/high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
