The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) diet is based around the glycaemic index, a list showing foods and a score illustrating the speed that the carbs in the food type gets converted to glucose in your bloodstream. The claim is that slow release foods (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic score), will keep you feeling full for longer and mean that you can eat less food without feeling you are missing out. It is also very beneficial for people with diabetes, as the low GI food types are helpful in managing increases in blood sugar secretion. Superfoods rich in flavonoids (inlcudes dark chocolate, asparagus, garden pea & basil) The nutrients known as flavonoids found in these food types show promise as cancer fighters. Researchers investigating the properties of flavonoids think that they may well also have many other healthy benefits, including anti-dermatitis and antitumor activities.. The majority of these also have a low calorie count, so should be a part of every weight loss program. |
