Weight loss systemsThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system initially suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not specifically a fat reduction diet, but many zone diet fans find that they actually reduce body weight when following it. The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the secretion of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts your body in a state of balance which is far more healthful than usual, known as the 'zone'. Sears holds the theory that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its best and, because of this, does not convert energy to unsightly fat. The main procedure of the diet is to monitor and control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased levels of Omega 3 and omega 6. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet system invented by Dr. arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should be eating "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented this diet for people who have cardiac problems, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific research on other weight loss studies. Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, turkey bacon, seafood, parmesan cheese, almonds, lowfat milk and certain vegetables, like kidney beans, cauliflower and water chestnuts. |
