Ingredients
1 lb very lean hamburger
1 small chopped onion
4 slice crisp-cooked bacon, chopped in bits
3 eggs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup half-and-half
8 oz shredded chedder or Swiss cheese
Garlic powder to taste, (optional)
Freshly-ground white pepper, to taste
Directions
Brown hamburger in skillet with onion. Remove and mix in bowl with bacon
pieces, breaking up any larger clumps with a fork or pastry mixer until you
have a fine mix. Drain well of any excess grease and press into the
bottom of a deep-dish pie pan. Set aside.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Combine remaining ingredients in mixer bowl and whip well. Pour mixture
over beef "crust" and bake 40 to 45 minutes until top is browned and "set".
Cool 15 to 20 minutes before slicing.
This can be packaged in Ziplocs or plastic containers for meals quickly
microwaved over the next 3 to 5 days. (Does not freeze well, though.)

Diet Bacon Cheeseburger Quiche Recipe brought to you by Diet Recipes To-Go
Diet informationThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet system started by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which encourages that dieters should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed his weight loss regime as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his analysis of scientific studies completed on other weight loss regimes. "good" foods include, broiled ham, skinless poultry, prawns, parmesan cheese, almonds, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like green beans, cabbage and sprouts. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system initially devised by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not distinctly a fat reduction diet, however many zone diet fans believe that they reduce a few pounds when following it. The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you control the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts the body in a balanced state that is far more healthy than usual, known as the 'zone'. Sears alleges that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its most efficient and, as a result, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat. The main method of the system is to monitor and control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has high levels of Omega 3 fish oils. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi index nutrition and weight loss system is based on the glycaemic index, a list of foods and a score representing the ease that the energy of the food gets converted to sugar in your system. The believe is that slow release food types (ie with a low Glycaemic score), suppress your appetite and mean that you can reduce your consumption of food without feeling you are missing out. It's also especially beneficial for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI food types are beneficial in preventing surges in glucose levels. |
