The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet primarily created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a weight loss diet, but some people claim that they seem to lose a few pounds by following this system.
The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can gain control of the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids which puts one's body in a state of balance which is much, much more healthy than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears believes that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its most efficient and, because of this, does not convert energy to unsightly fat.
The most valuable procedure of the diet is to maintain the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes pickled shallots, leeks and welsh onion)

The onion and garlic family of vegetables is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Even though there is as yet, not enough scientific proof available, allyl sulphides are also believed to help with blood circulation, sterilization and diabetes.

Foods containing allyl sulfides also have a low calorie count, so should be a part of every weight loss program.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
