The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime primarily devised by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a fat reduction diet, nevertheless some people discover that they manage to lose body weight by following the zone diet. The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to control the levels of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts your body in a state of balance that is an awful lot more healthful than other diets, known as the 'zone'. Sears holds the theory that if you get into this 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a result, does not build up layers of fat. The most important procedure of the zone system is to maintain the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi index diet system is based on the glycaemic index, a list showing food types and an indicator of the ease that the glucose of the food type gets transformed to sugar in the dieters blood stream. The believe is that long-acting foods (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic index score), keep you satiated for longer and help you to take in fewer food without feeling hungry. It's also especially beneficial for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in preventing surges in glucose secretion. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes garlic, white onions and welsh onion) The onion, leek and garlic family is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is insufficient scientific evidence present, allyl sulfides are also thought by nutritionalists to reduce problems with antiinflammatory effect, high blood pressure and physical exhaustion. Foods containing allyl sulfides also have a low calorie count, so should be included in your weight loss regime. |
