Diet informationThe Atkins’ Diet Now nearly 5 decades old, the popular atkins diet is still one of the most popular diets today. Popular with many famous celebrities, it enables weight loss whilst encouraging you to eat many of the foods you love, such as fatty meat and egg and cheese. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, nutrition and weightloss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet system invented by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed his weight loss regime as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his analysis of scientific data on other diets. Examples of good foods include, veal cutlets, turkey breast, shellfish, feta cheese, peanuts, lowfat or nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like green beans, lettuce and spinach. |
