The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss program primarily invented by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight reduction diet, however many zone diet fans believe that they really seem to lose weight when following it.
The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to limit the amount of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts your body in a balanced state which is much more healthful than it normally is, known as the 'zone'.
Sears believes that when in the 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, as a result, doesn't need to build up stores of fat.
The main technique of the zone diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to make sure your diet has high levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.

Flavonoid rich foods
(inlcudes olive oil, kale, soya beans & dill)

The nutrients called 'flavonoids' present in these types of food are thought to have properties in preventing cancer.
Specialists studying the medical effects of flavonoids believe that they may well also have most other healthy properties, including anti-dermatitis and antitumor properties.
A good number also help you lose weight, so should be included in every weight loss program.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
