The Recipe Instructions
 

 

Ingredients

2 cup whole wheat flour, self-rising
1/2 cup margarine
1 tsp cinnamon
1 cup walnuts, chopped
2/3 cup raisins
2 cup dessert apples, peeled cored grated
1 cup carrot, grated
1 grated peel of 1 orange
2 large eggs, *
4 tbsp fresh orange juice


Directions

Line the base and grease of a loaf pan with 4 cup capcity. Preheat
the oven to 350 degrees. Place the flour in a bowl and mix well, then
cut in the margarine and stir in the cinnamon. Stir in the walnuts,
raisins, apples and carrot. Add the orange peel, eggs and juice, then
beat well until thoroughly combined. Spoon the mixture into the
prepared pan, smooth the top and bake for about 1 1/4 hours, or until
the cake is well risen and firm to touch. Turn out on a wire rack.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime initially suggested by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight loss diet, however many zone diet fans believe that they lose body weight by following it.
The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you can control the levels of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a consequence puts the body in a state of equilibrium that is an awful lot more wholesome than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears claims that if you get into this 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, because of this, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat.
The main procedure of the zone diet is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has high levels of Omega 3 fish oils.


The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index diet system is reliant on the gi index, a list showing food types and a score illustrating the rapidity that the carbs of the food type gets changed to sugar in the dieters bloodstream. The claim is that long-acting types of food (ie those foods with a low Glycaemic index score), suppress your appetite and help you to consume less food without feeling hungry.
It's also extremeley useful for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI food types are useful in reducing surges in blood glucose levels.


The brassicas, Healthy superfoods that also help your Weight loss
(eg. Cauliflower, Boiled potatoes, Turnips and Rutabaga)
Known as cruciferous vegetables, these are packed with vitamins (eg.folate and vit c), minerals (selenium and potassium, amongst others), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents and isothiocyanates.

In addition to their many beneficial effects, the nutrients in these are believed by scientists to help reduce the cancer risk in those prone to it..
