Weight loss systemsThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially invented by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a fat reduction diet, however many people discover that they actually manage to lose a few pounds by following the zone diet. The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the secretion of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts your body in a state of balance that is much more wholesome than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears states that a body that is in 'the zone' is much more efficient and, because of this, does not convert energy to unsightly fat. The key technique of the diet is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to dose yourself with plenty of Omega 3 fish oils. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the popular atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Although highly controversial, it supposedly allows weight loss whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, such as bacon and hard cheese. With the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The 'science' behind the popular atkins diet is that if we eat less carbohydrates, we will utilize the fat we have stored and we will become thinner |
