Ingredients
2 cup cooked rice
1 cup skim milk
1 tbsp liquid sugartwin (1/4 c sug)
1/4 cup raisins
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 apple, shredded peel on
1/4 tsp ascorbic acid col. keeper
Directions
1 tbsp Sugartwin has the sweetness of 4 tbsp or 1/4 cup sugar.
American Diabetes Assoc. guidelines allow 1 tsp sugar per serving or
2 tbsp for a 6 serving recipe which would taste OK to people
accustomed to low sugar recipes.
Combine rice, milk, sweetener (or sugar) raisins, vanilla and spices.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and stir occasionally until the mixture
is creamy.
Core and shred apple and sprinkle with ascorbic acid color keeper, or
with a little lemon juice. Stir apple into rice mixture. Cook a few
minutes longer until apple is soft. Serve warm or cold.
1/6 recipe made with artificial sweetner - 1 starch choice, 1 milk
Optional: Cook 2/3 cup rice in 1 2/3 cups water. Make pudding as
above without apple and add 2 tbsp coconut.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system started by Dr. arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed the south beach diet for people who have heart disease, as a consequence of his analysis of scientific studies on other diets. Examples of good foods include, canadian bacon, skinless poultry, prawns, cottage cheese, pecan halves, lowfat milk and certain vegetables, like chickpeas, collard greens and sprouts. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a weight loss program primarily created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a weight loss diet, nevertheless many zone diet fans find that they actually manage to lose body weight by following this system. The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts one's body in a balanced state that is a lot more healthful than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears alleges that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, as a result, does not build up fat. The main method of the diet is to maintain the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to dose yourself with large amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. Foods high in flavonoids (inlcudes citrus fruits, kohlrabi, kidney bean & dill) The flavonoids which exist in these fruit and vegetables are thought by nutritionalists to have properties as anti-carcinogens. Experts investigating the effects of flavonoids believe that they could have numerous other health benefits, including, but not limited to, anti-allergic and anti-platelet activities.. A good number are low in calories, so should be included in your diet. |
