Ingredients
2 cup cooked rice
1 cup skim milk
1 tbsp liquid sugartwin (1/4 c sug)
1/4 cup raisins
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1 apple, shredded peel on
1/4 tsp ascorbic acid col. keeper
Directions
1 tbsp Sugartwin has the sweetness of 4 tbsp or 1/4 cup sugar.
American Diabetes Assoc. guidelines allow 1 tsp sugar per serving or
2 tbsp for a 6 serving recipe which would taste OK to people
accustomed to low sugar recipes.
Combine rice, milk, sweetener (or sugar) raisins, vanilla and spices.
Bring to a boil, reduce heat and stir occasionally until the mixture
is creamy.
Core and shred apple and sprinkle with ascorbic acid color keeper, or
with a little lemon juice. Stir apple into rice mixture. Cook a few
minutes longer until apple is soft. Serve warm or cold.
1/6 recipe made with artificial sweetner - 1 starch choice, 1 milk
Optional: Cook 2/3 cup rice in 1 2/3 cups water. Make pudding as
above without apple and add 2 tbsp coconut.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed his system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific studies on other weight loss regimes. Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, turkey bacon, shellfish, fat-free cheeses, pecan halves, nonfat milk and some vegatables, like green beans, celery and mushrooms. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it enables weight loss whilst allowing many foods that are not normally available to dieters, such as fatty meat and butter. With this diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, weight loss program. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The logic of the atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to burn into carbs, it is the carbohydrates that are burned primarily. If we injest less carbohydrates, we will burn up the fat we already carry and we will lose weight. Although inviting, this theory is controversial, not all doctors are in agreement and many hold that it is sometimes risky. Superfoods containing flavonoids (inlcudes onion, kale, scarlet runner bean & thyme) The compounds known as flavonoids which are present in these natural foods show promise as cancer fighters. Experts who have been studying the nutritional effects of flavonoids think that they could have many healthy properties, including, but not limited to, anti-viral and anti-inflammatory activities.. Many are low in calories, so should be included in every weight loss regime. |
