Weight loss dietsThe Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index diet is linked to the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of food types and a score illustrating the rapidity that the glucose and energy of the food type gets transformed to sugar in your body. The believe is that slow release foods (ie those foods with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite for longer and help to cut down on food without being miserabl;e. It's also extremeley effective for people with diabetes, as the low GI foods are beneficial in controlling surges in blood sugar secretion. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system first detailed by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a fat reduction diet, nevertheless some people believe that they actually manage to lose weight when following it. The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if you control the levels of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts the body in a state of balance that is an awful lot more healthy than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears holds the theory that a body that is in 'the zone' is much more efficient and, as a result, doesn't need to build up stores of fat. The main procedure of the system is to maintain the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils. |
