Super foods containing lycopene (includes water melon, papaya & cochinchin gourd) The nutrient lypcopene is a simple coloring compound and part of the carotenid family of phytochemicals. It is accountable for the deep red hue of quite a few types of food. Fortunately, unlike many healthy agents, this useful phytochemical does not degrade if cooked, but is in fact strengthened by being cooked. . Wonder foods with carotenes (includes paprika, mangos and tomato ketchup) These superfoods are rich in carotenes believed to help in minimizing the chances of contracting, particularly cancers of the stomach. Many are low in calories, so you should add them to your diet. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet system first invented by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet is not specifically a weight reduction diet, but many 'zone dieters' claim that they reduce body weight by following this system. The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to gain control of the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a result puts one's body in a state of balance which is more healthy than other diets, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears claims that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its best and, as a consequence, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat. The most interesting technique of the diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. |
