The low calorie diet
As most people know, a low calorie weight loss regime is based on the fact that if you are going to diet successfully, then you have to consume less calories than you actually use. What is a calorie? The calorie is the standard unit for energy measurement in dieting. The 'calorie' is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If your meal contains more calories, then it will turn into more energy when your body converts it. Low calorie foods include brussels sprouts, green pepper, water melon, lower fat hot-dogs, and bamboo shoots. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston developed his nutritional system for people who have heart disease, based on his detailed study of scientific research completed on other weight loss regimes. Good foods include, broiled ham, turkey bacon, prawns, feta cheese, peanut butter, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as green beans, eggplant and snow peas. Carotenoid foods (includes cilantro, turnip greens and tomato ketchup) These amazing fruits and vegetables contain carotenes (alpha and beta) believed by experts to help in minimising the risk of cancer, particularly those cancers involving the lungs. A good number are also low in calories, so should be included in your weight loss program. |
