Lycopene rich foods
(includes watermelon, red peppers and tomato sauce)

The phytochemical lycopene is a natural compound and member of the phytochemical group known as 'carotenids'. This chemical is the reason for the dark red colour of some fruits and vegetables.

Fortunately, unlike many other nutrients, it does not degrade if cooked, rather it is observably strengthened by the cooking process.

. Its most important theraputic value is that it serves as an antioxidant and is thought to help to reduce the probabilty of contracting cancer.

Lycopene is the most powerful fighter of singlet oxygen, which is linked with skin aging. It is also thought by many researchers to block the progression of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels.

Superfoods containing carotenes
(includes carrots, mangos and tomato puree)
These colorful plants are rich in alpha and beta carotenes thought to help in minimizing the risk of cancer, particularly cancers of the lung, esophagus and stomach. The majority of these also have a low calorie count, so should be a part of every diet system.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
