The Atkins’ Diet
Although it originated back in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it claims to allow fat reduction whilst still eating foods that are normally considered bad for diets, like bacon and some dairy produce.
On the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, diet system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The low-cal diet

Rather obviously, the low-cal diet says that if you intend to get rid of some fat, it is important to injest less calories than you need for exercise.

What is a calorie?
A calorie is a measurement of the energy provided by food. A food calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise one cubic centimeter of water by one degree centigrade. If your meal contains more calories, then it will provide your body with more energy when it is eaten.

Examples of low calorie foods include cauliflower, mushrooms, water melon, canadian bacon, and low-fat cheese.

Cruciferous vegetables, Healthy superfoods that also help with your Dieting
(examples: Arugula, Cabbage, Collard greens and Horseradish)
These cruciferous vegetables are full of vitamins (folate and vitamin c, for example), minerals (selenium and potassium, for example), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents and isothiocyanates.

Over and above their most other beneficial effects, some of these nutrients are thought by doctors to help reduce the cancer risk in those prone to it..

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
