Ingredients
1 angel food cake (8 inches)
1/2 gl vanilla ice cream, slightly soft, ened
2 qt fresh strawberries
1 sugar =or=-
1 sugar substitute to taste
Directions
Cut the cake in half; tear one half into small pieces and set aside.
Cut the other half into 12-14 thin slices; arrange in the bottom of a
wax paper lined 13" x 9" x 2" baking pan, overlapping as needed.
Spread softened ice cream over cake, pressing down to smooth. Gently
press the small cake pieces into the ice cream. Cover and freeze.
Just before serving, slice strawberries and sweeten to taste. Cut
dessert into squares and top with strawberries. Serves 15.
Diabetic Exchanges: One serving (prepared with sugar free ice cream
and sugar substitute) equals 1 1/2 starch, 1 fat, 1/2 fruit; also, 183
calories, 131 mg sodium, 15 mg cholesterol, 34 gm carbohydrate, 6 gm
protein, 4 gm fat.

It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet invented by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston invented his weight loss regime for people who have heart disease, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific data completed on other dietary studies. Examples of good foods include, canadian bacon, skinless poultry, prawns, fat free cheese, peanuts, lowfat or nonfat milk and some vegatables, such as black beans, cauliflower and water chestnuts. |
