The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index weight loss regime is reliant on the gi index, a chart showing foods and an indicator of the rapidity that the carbs of the food type gets changed to glucose in the dieters bloodstream. The theory is that slow release food types (ie those foods with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite for longer and help you to take in fewer food without feeling you are always hungry. It is also extremeley effective for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI foods are helpful in managing increases in blood sugar secretion. The Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Although highly controversial, it allows weight reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, such as fatty meat and some dairy produce. On the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a high protein, low carb, diet system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour. With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes eschalot, leeks and welsh onion) The onion, leek and garlic range of vegetables is high in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is not much hard medical proof available, allyl sulfides are also thought by many researchers to reduce problems with antiinflammatory effect, sterilization and physical exhaustion. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so are ideal for including in your weight loss program. |
