The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system invented by Cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented his nutritional system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his detailed analysis of scientific studies on other dietary studies. Good foods include, veal cutlets, chicken breast, seafood, parmesan cheese, pistachio nuts, eggs and certain vegetables, like artichokes, cauliflower and turnips. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet system primarily invented by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet is not particularly a fat reduction diet, however many zone diet fans find that they really manage to lose body weight when following it. The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to limit the amount of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts the body in a balanced state that is a lot more healthy than normal, which is known as the zone. Sears believes that if you get into this 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, does not need to build up stores of fat. The main process of the system is to control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils. Foods rich in flavonoids (inlcudes dark chocolate, brussels sprouts, yams & basil) The nutrients known as flavonoids present in these fruits and vegetables show promise as anti-carcinogens. Researchers studying the nutritional effects of flavonoids think they might also have numerous healthy benefits, including, but not limited to, anti-candida and anti-platelet properties. A good number are low in calories, so make sure you add them to your diet system. |
