3/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 eggs, separated
1/2 tsp almond extract
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
6 tbsp sugar

to add sugar, not more than 1 Tablespoon at a time, and beat
constantly. Continue to beat rapidly until whites are very stiff and
glossy. Gently fold in the beaten egg yolks. In the same manner fold
in the dry ingredients until well mixed. Using a small spatula and a

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes eschalot, onions and spring onions) The onion family is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is as yet, not enough real proof obtainable, allyl sulphides are also thought by nutritionalists to aid in antiinflammatory effect, sterilization and physical exhaustion. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so should be a part of every diet. Superfoods containing flavonoids (inlcudes onion, spinach, soya beans & thyme) The nutrients called 'flavonoids' discovered in these natural foods are believed to be good in fighting cancer. Doctors studying the medical effects of flavonoids believe they might also have many benefits to our health, including, but not limited to, antiviral and anti-inflammatory powers. Many are low in calories, so should be included in every weight loss program. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet is still widely used today. Popular with many famous celebrities, it allows fat reduction whilst still eating many foods that are not normally available to dieters, eg beef and some dairy produce. On the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is often referred to as a low carb/high protein, weight loss program. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The 'science' behind the atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to convert into energy, it is the carbohydrates that are burned initially. If we take in fewer carbohydrates, we will consume the fat we already carry and we will lose weight. Although tempting, the atkins diet is controversial, not all doctors are in agreement and many hold that it might be bad for your health. |
